A worn out chair was given a new life thanks to the conservation of its back splat. The damage was too much for it to be repaired, hence we prepared a mould and embossed the leather for a new back splat. However, the original seat qualified for conservation, and we faced the need to adjust the look of new leather in order for the chair to retain its historic character. Drawing upon our experience in artwork conservation we were able to easily perform the procedure of “aesthetic unification”.
